How You Can Easily Get a Walk-in Tub Installed

Imagine this scene- a person tired and weary after more than 13 hours in the office, rushes back home. It is a long, long drive. It had been an exhausting week and the person just craves a slow, relaxing bath. At home there is a spa installed with all the soaps, lotions and perfumes readily available. On reaching home, the person settles into the self-promised bath. A content smile touches the person's lips as he/she finally gets to relax the tired bones. Bath is just heavenly!

Not all people have this kind of luxury. Taking bath is not a divine experience for many. There are those who consider getting into a bathtub nothing short of a torture, and with good reason too. To consider their trauma, now consider this scenario:-

Imagine a person in his or her mid eighties. The stiff joint and the weakening knees are constant sources of pain. This person cannot move a muscle without a sigh. He/she needs a bath too, but just cannot think of enduring the pain of entering a bathtub. Once inside, there is yet another challenge- getting out. There is no way the person can mange this without help. He/she has to face the indignity of being carried and then lowered into the bathtub with specialized equipment!

The elderly, the ones on wheelchair, the physically challenged and others who do not have the freedom of movement due one or the other problem, find themselves in such a position everyday. Bathtub is a nightmare to them. But it need not be so. They can opt for walk-in tubs and baths.

Getting into a walk-in tub is very much like getting into a car. There is door, which open and the person can walk right in and sit. These days there are even special seats in the bathtubs for this purpose. Once the door close, there is no way the water can escape as it is both air and watertight. There are also special handle to facilitate the exit from the tub. With these facilities, walk-in tubs bring back the joy of bathing to those who suffering from different physical problems as well as the normal individuals (especially kids). Previously, the caretakers had to heave and sigh, while lifting their ward to the bath. They also can heave a sigh of relief as the days of carrying the defendant to the bath are over.

It is possible to change the normal bathtub to a walk-in tub. Within US you could purchase these from the store that sells other bath fixtures. Many of the bigger retail stores like Home Depot and other room stores have bathtubs that can be installed by you. These come with detailed guidelines. You could also opt for help and make use of the installation team, you may be charged a little extra for this. These teams are reputed to be very efficient.

Another alternative would be to hire a handyman. They might take a fee but a handyman takes the hassle out of installation.

Anatomy of Today's Home Office

Privacy, functionality and versatility play a large role in the location. The space must also afford the user design freedom to create the best working atmosphere.

This is such a personal choice as everyone works and organizes differently. Much time should be spent on the personal side of this space.

Moms; The Exception

One exception to the separation of the home office is for that of the working stay at home mom. In many instances, newborns and small children not quite ready for school have to be watched as mom works.

This type of office can also be introduced into a remodeling project. It takes a little more creativity, but it can be done.

A few popular areas are within the kitchen, bedroom or family room. This type of home office does present problems though. The obvious being that it is very difficult to separate work and home activities.

That said, the alternative to working outside the home and having children go off to day care is just not that appealing a choice for many moms.

Technology and Lighting

Lighting and technology will also play a significant role in the final design. The lighting package should consist of several different types including natural light if at all possible.

Nothing can hurt the appeal to use a home office more than improper lighting creating a dungeon affect.

The space should have general lighting as well as task specific and accent lighting. The accent lighting can be used to show off favorite works of art, educational achievements and family photos.

With continued advances in technology, every effort should be made to accommodate present day structured wiring. This will allow for the most flexibility and expansion possible in the future.

Faxes, printers, PDAs and Blackberries have all become a necessity to today's home offices. The ability to integrate and synchronize multi-devices has become a great organizing tool for many without a support staff.

Combining Maximum Organization with Beauty

Organization of the space itself should not be limited to some generic metal file drawers and boring bookcases. Custom layouts including wood front multi-functional file drawers as well as cabinetry designed to hide equipment and maybe even a refrigerator should be considered.

Faxes and copiers are easily stored on roll out shelves within the cabinets for an uncluttered look. Multiple workstations setup for computers and adequate writing surfaces are a necessity.

Design Style & You

It is easy to introduce ones personal touch and design preferences into a home office. Independent from the rest of the home, the users' personality should sing out giving more desire to use the space.

A preference to design style and colors of the user should not be driven by the overall house decor and style.

Questions to Get you Started

Consider the answers to the following questions before designing your space.

1. Who will be the main user?

2. Is the user(s)left or right handed?

Note: If this space is a multi-user office and space is limited this could dramatically affect the layout.

3. How much space does each user require?

4. What are each users privacy requirements?

5. What equipment will be required for each user?

Turkey is used in many delicacies. It is associated with Thanksgiving, but also consumed on other occasions. Turkey is generally preferred because it is high in protein and low on fat, as compared to other dark meat. Some common breeds of turkey are: Narragansett, Bronze, White Holland, and Bourbon Red.

Turkey can be roasted, smoked, deep fried, grilled or microwaved. Turkey can be used for appetizers, soaps, salads, sandwiches, entrees, etc. The most popular turkey dishes are: sandwich, stew or soup, salad, casserole and stir-fry.

Handwashing, The Most Important Step For Food Safety - Food Safety For The 'Average Joe' - Article 2

Handwashing, the most important step for food safety.
Food safety for the Average Joe-Article Two

In 2002, a Food Standards agency conducted a survey of 1,000 food workers. Of these 39%...390 of those surveyeddid not wash their hands after using the toilet. 53% didnt wash their hands before preparing food. Broken down even further, it has been determined (based on this as well as other surveys) that half of all men and a quarter of all women make a regular practice of not washing their hands after visiting restroom facilities.

Some of the reasons people give for not washing their hands properly or at all are 1) Lack of time/too busy (54%) 2) Forgetting/having to remember (18%) and 3) Distractions with other/competing tasks.

Handwashing is the simplest--yet the most neglected--disease prevention practice. Germs can survive for up to three hours on hands. Thorough handwashing with hot, soapy water prevents bacteria from transferring from hands to foods. Some of the most hazardous foodborne illnesses can be passed through improper handwashing. E.coli 0157:H7, the deadly foodborne disease that killed a number of people in the Pacific Northwest in the 1990s, is one that can be passed from person to person by improper or neglected handwashing.

Hands must be properly washed after tasks like using the restroom and before preparing food. It is interesting to note that Washington States Food Code mandates that food workers wash their hands in the restroom after using the facilities and then again inside the kitchen before preparing food. One handwashing is for show, because the food worker will re-contaminate his/her hands after touching doorknobs and such because they were handled by people who had not washed. The second handwashing is the real handwashing required for food safety.

It is important that hands be washed properly to prevent illness. The rinse and go method that is all too common nowadays is as ineffective for preventing foodborne bacteria as not washing at all.

How To Wash Your Hands Properly

Use soap and warm, running water.

Make sure to wet hands before applying the soap

Apply a liberal amount of soap to hands

Rub your hands vigorously for 20 seconds (two rounds of Happy Birthday)

Wash all surfaces, including:

o backs of hands

o wrists

o between fingers

o tips of fingers

o under fingernails

o Rinse your hands well

Dry your hands with a paper towel.

Many people think that a nail brush is necessary for handwashing, and will keep one near the sink for that reason. The problem is that the nail brush becomes moist and stays that way. Moisture is a fertile breeding ground for bacteria. Unless your nail brush is kept in a sanitizer solution, do not keep a nail brush at the sink. It is possible to wash under the fingernails without using a nail brush.

Microbial or antibacterial soaps are not necessary for proper handwashing.
From the New York Times:

Studies show that more than 70 percent of liquid hand soaps sold are now labeled antibacterial, and Americans seem increasingly willing to pay a premium for them. But the truth is that most consumers may not always be getting what they think they are. Over the years, studies have repeatedly shown that antibacterial soaps are no better than plain old soap and water.
One study, published in The Journal of Community Health in 2003, followed adults in 238 households in New York City for nearly a year.
Month after month, the researchers found no difference in the number of microbes that turned up on the hands of people who used either antibacterial soap or regular soap. At least four other large studies have had similar findings.
In fact, the only question now may be whether using antibacterial soaps can cause more harm than good by creating strains of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Last month, the Food and Drug Administration convened experts to discuss, among other things, whether antibacterial products should be more tightly regulated because of the potential risks they pose.

THE BOTTOM LINE
Studies show that antibacterial soap is no more effective than regular soap.

Due to the recent popularity of waterless hand sanitizers, the misconception abounds that this solution can replace handwashing. While it is good to keep the solution on hand for situations where hands cannot be washed, such as when you are not at home and are not near handwashing facilities, it does not replace proper handwashing, nor is it approved as a substitution by any Environmental Health Agency in America. The Food and Drug Administration, in regards to regulations concerning proper procedures for food services, recommends that hand sanitizers not be used in place of soap and water but only as an adjunct.

Barbara Almanza, an associate professor at Purdue University who teaches safe sanitation practices to workers, recommends that to properly sanitize the hands, soap and water should be used. A hand sanitizer can not and should not take the place of proper cleansing procedures with soap and water.

The very best defense against foodborne illness being passed from person to person or to a loved one who you are cooking for is proper handwashing.

Feng Shui Meets Quantum Physics

Art or Science?

Welcome to a short ride on the technology train while we adventure into history dating back 4000 years. From the ancient analog Lou Pan that is used like a complex slide rule, to the world's first digital Feng Shui compass, Feng Shui has always required complex mathematics. In today's digital world these detailed measurements and calculations can now be done with an instrument that combines aerospace technology with the mathematics and physics of Feng Shui.

If you didn't know already, Feng Shui is a science, although 4000 years ago the word science didn't exist as it does today. At that time, Feng Shui and its mathematics and science were even hidden from most people because of the political scene in China at that time.

Early in our schooling we learned that everything in this universe is vibrating energy. From subatomic particles to skyscrapers, good vibes to auras, it is all vibrating energy. Every bit of you is vibrating energy and you live in an environment that is vibrating energy. Your personal vibrations interact with the vibrations of your environment including all the people, places and things that make up your world.

We've all experienced times when a song, a place or a person has soothed us and we have also experienced being jarred by sounds, places or people. This "I like" vs. "I dislike", after much experimentation and experience, makes up the background against which we make our choices in life. It is our basis for judgment and our selection of relationships, careers, food and activity.

Most of us have also experienced times when our choices did not exactly provide the experiences we were looking for although they may have been very beneficial by helping us grow and mature. At some point, we connect the dots between choices and our experiences and we want to assure ourselves that what we choose is going to be what we want to experience. Right here is where the art and science of Feng Shui comes into play.

Once you know that you are responsible for the conditions you are in and that you are there because of your choices, you make the connection and the intellectual leap to find out how to truly, actually, really, create and craft the life of your choice.

Here we step into the realm of the science of energy better known as physics.

Brian Greene, professor of physics and mathematics at Columbia university states, "...if string theory is right, the microscopic fabric of our universe is a richly intertwined multi-dimensional labyrinth within which the stings of the universe endlessly twist and vibrate, rhythmically beating out the laws of the cosmos."

If this is true, this whole universe is one enormous vibrating quantum soup within which we live and work and have our relationships. That means too that where we work, the relationships we have and even the health of our bodies are all vibrations!

How could this possibly change my life?

We can easily know what kind of vibration we are habitually engaging in or experiencing, in the same way that we know when laughter is entertainment or critical condescension. So too, we can experience the energy in any environment that is aligned favorably with us personally, or that challenges us, by measuring the success of our relationships with our environment, friends, family, work, etc.

To practice the art of actively choosing or intending to engage with the favorable energy available to us at all times is to practice Feng Shui.

This compass is a tool that helps you create in your life the experiences you really want by quickly, easily and accurately, finding the favorable energy that will help bring that experience into existence. Because energy is everywhere and everything, your intention can at anytime, anywhere, actively engage those vibrations that match your dreams and desires.

Aren't I really in charge here?

Well, yes, mostly. Haven't you ever done absolutely everything you thought you needed to do to have a certain outcome and yet it didn't happen? Were you in charge then? You were certainly in charge of everything that you were aware of at the time. But, what if there is and has always been something about which you haven't been aware yet which can and does affect you? Finding out what that is and how to put it to work for you, now that's putting you in charge in a way that can give you the edge needed to really make a difference.

What is it that exists in the continuum of time and space within which we live and make our choices that could possibly affect us without our being aware of it? Traditional Chinese Feng Shui Masters called that hidden ingredient "Qi".

Qi Is The Energy Of Life.

The nearly imperceptible energy that surrounds, supports and influences everything around us is called Qi (pronounced "chi" in English). It is something many of us have been unaware of because we can't find it just with our physical senses. That's because Qi is an energy that is subtle, all pervasive, and truly the stuff of life. It has been referred to as the energy matrix, Shakti and as cosmic consciousness.

Feng Shui is the art and practice of directing this subtle energy to inspire and create positive changes in your life. This ancient practice is based on mathematics and physics and offers techniques that are an active approach to dealing directly with Qi. There are various Schools or Hats of Feng Shui and they can be confusing, nevertheless, consultants and practitioners all agree that any effort in the use of it is truly worthwhile.

You too can get positive results toward changing your life, manifesting your dreams or just getting a better night's sleep whenever you want simply through activating the favorable energies that constantly surround you. Good Qi is always available to you if you know how to find and activate it.

Finding and Activating Qi

The electronic Feng Shui compass helps you find your personal favorable energy directions and put this potent energy to work for you everywhere in and around your home, business or office because it calculates where, in any environment, the energy that will support you is coming from. The icons displaying your personal energy are calculated instantly and are easy to understand.

To engage the full potency of the Qi available to assist you in life is to engage the energy that is often referred to as your Heavenly Luck, Human Luck and Earthly Luck.

Heavenly Luck

Feng Shui describes Heavenly Luck as the luck you are born with. The placement of the stars and planets at the time of your birth influences this kind of luck. Heavenly Luck is the congregation of planetary and solar energies at the time of your birth that aid or hinder your earthly path. Heavenly Luck also influenced the circumstances of your parents and the cultural and economic conditions surrounding your birth.

Think of the Earth as an energy grid that changes subtly, day to day, hour to hour, moment to moment. This grid changes as the Earth's proximity to the sun and the other planets in our solar system change. The rotation of our solar system through the galaxy and all of the magnetic energy fields of these systems we move through, combine to affect the Earth's magnetic field. A snapshot of all of these energies, at the moment of your birth, presents you with a magnetic blueprint as unique as your own fingerprints and in Feng Shui terms is called your Gua number.

You are an energy field and you have an impact on other energy fields. Also, the energy fields of others, people, places and things, affect you. Moreover, all of this works in much the same way that musical notes, colors and aromas are pleasant, neutral or unpleasant depending upon the perception and opinions of the person experiencing them.

Human Luck

Our Human Luck is the luck we make ourselves by the application of effort to study, learn and achieve a goal. Human Luck consists of your personal motivation and capacity to persevere, endure and focus your concentration on a subject or task until you have done what you set out to do.

Your Human Luck is the accumulation of your personal efforts in all respects. Your past, your education, upbringing, life experiences and all your thoughts and choices have combined to give you the Human Luck you are currently experiencing.

The thoughts you think now and the actions you take now create your future luck. You can change your future and your fortune! Every effort you make now to enhance your Human Luck also paints the canvas of your future. Using Feng Shui can help your Human Luck soar to new heights.

Earthly Luck

Earthly Luck is the luck available from your personal environment. It can support your individual vibration frequency or offer challenges. It can appear in the form of struggles at work or the good fortune you encounter in finding your soul mate or anything in between. Understanding and using Feng Shui, you can engage and activate the support of your Earthly Luck.

Your Gua Number

Based on your birth date, you have four favorable and four challenging directions. These directions are favorable or challenging for you physically, emotionally and spiritually. This energy is engaged and enhanced by the placement of things in your home or office, like your bed or desk. All of these things create a frequency in the environment you spend time in. The amount of time you spend in a particular environment with a particular frequency can activate that frequency within your personal field, and that is why you need to know where the good energy is coming from.

Perhaps you have a child who is performing poorly at school. Take a look at the placement of their bed. They may be sleeping in their Total Loss vibration. If so, they might not be able to get a good night's sleep. Without good sleep they can't perform well during the day.

Favorable and challenging energies have an influence and importance for you according to the amount of time you spend in a space. Like Human Luck, you can change your Earthly Luck through your actions and intentions.

The Electronic Feng Shui Compass

When you apply Feng Shui principles based on accurate compass readings and a variety of specific calculations, they can indeed activate your Human and Earthly Luck and help you achieve your personal and professional goals. This compass gives you immediate access to your fortunate and favorable energies. It is a modern tool utilizing traditional approaches to Feng Shui that have been practiced for over 4000 years in China.

Among all the schools and methods that apply Feng Shui, one constant is an awareness of and appreciation for the impact that Qi has on your very precious human life. Learning to activate and enhance this energy in your life and the lives of your loved ones is what this compass will help you accomplish. It is a tool for making authentic Feng Shui accessible to all.

Spiritual Awareness With The Good and the Bad

Spirituality is a subject that is so vast that it can lead to endless discussions. Although most people do admit there is a Spiritual side to every human been not everybody wants to embrace that part. What do you mean by that I hear you ask? And if so then why is it like that?

First let me try to answer another question. How do we know we are spiritually aware? The answer is if you are alive and if you have emotions you also have a spiritual awareness to things. Don't tell you never say: 'I knew that." There is a connection we have to the unknown that we can't describe, but it is as if we have insight to certain things before it happens. I do think everybody has a spiritual awareness even though they do not call it that. So if we all have are and if it is so valuable to have, why don't we all try to embrace it?

A possible answer is because it is a subject that attracts so much hocus pocus. This is something the reasonable man can't embrace. Just recently I saw a television program about a spiritual healer. Now though I can never say he or she isn't, I noticed things that bothered me. This woman surrounded her with things such as the Egyptian Ank, Tibetan bells, candles, crystals etc. She also made certain statements that I frowned upon. She mentioned that she used crystals because its vibration is very close to the vibration of the human body? I wonder what Asimov would have said about that? Can anybody show proof of such statements/

To come back to the discussion, I find that traditional Western people only come to a spiritual awareness level later in life. Some only after they got addicted to all the other things. Once they gave up drugs, alcohol and the rest that failed to supply them with answers, they suddenly discover spirituality. But boy do they discover it then. Within months they buy anything and everything that is available and they throw that together in a concoction that can cure anything physical and emotional. They suddenly have all the answers and throw around jargon that is very impressive. For some this actually works but for the rest, the Lotus flower and crystals disappear.

To the contrary, in Tibet, India, Taiwan and other places known for their temples and people who study religious texts, you don't find this. Here you find a more serious and focused concentration on the subject. In Tibet the monk uses his bells, in Egypt he used the Ank and in Japan he used a Zen garden. Each to its own.

In Zen Buddhism it is believed that if you want to grow you need to take away something everyday, not add more. They also believe in Simplicity. Less is better. I have a feeling this way will lead to a deeper understanding of the subject that will last longer. I could be wrong.

If subjects such as these interest you, then you must have a look at my site http://ozymandeus.com or find out what the word Ozymandeus means

Is Transcendental Meditation a Religion

There is a rumor on the internet that the Transcendental Meditation (TM) technique is a religion. Nothing could be further from the truth. The TM program has been funded by 24 million dollars in federally funded grants over the past 20 years. These projects have included TM's research and/or implementation in health facilities, schools, universities, research facilities, probation programs and prison settings around the USA. This would not be possible if the TM program was considered by the government to be religious in any way.

In addition the Transcendental Meditation technique does not conflict with religious beliefs because it has nothing to do with belief. It does not require that one believe that it will work in order for one to be successful in the practice. There are thousands of priests, nuns, rabbis and Buddhist monks who practice the TM technique and find that it enhances their respective religious beliefs.

At the same time, it is true, that some 30 years ago, there was a federal court case in the state of New Jersey which deemed the Federal Department of Education's funding of a curriculum in "The Science of Creative Intelligence" to be an unconstitutional entanglement of the government with religion. This was due to the claim that the concept of "Creative Intelligence", or unified field of consciousness, was somehow a religious concept. (Malnak v. Yogi, 592 F2d 197, 1979). However, the TM technique itself was never declared by the court to be religious in nature. To emphasize this point Judge Adams stated that his ruling prohibited government funding for the Science of Creative Intelligence and "not a course in TM alone". In particular Judge Adams felt that TM was non religious because the TM instruction ceremony was "performed only once in the case of each student; it was entirely in Sanskrit with neither the student nor, apparently, the teacher who chanted it, knowing what the foreign words meant." Malnak v. Yogi, 592 F.2d 197, 203 (3rd Cir., 1979)

Furthermore many constitutional scholars believe that this isolated ruling, which judged even the concept of Creative Intelligence to be religious, was in error. For example, Laurence H. Tribe, professor at Harvard Law School and legal advisor to President elect Barack Obama, strenuously objected to the court's conclusion. It is for this reason that no court, anywhere in the world, has ever come to the same or similar conclusion. Furthermore, since the New Jersey court case of 1979, hundreds of research studies on the TM technique have validated its mechanical, repeatable, secular nature and created widespread public acceptance of its benefits. Transcendental Meditation is a simple, natural, effortless technique that is practiced for 20 minutes twice a day sitting comfortably at home. Over 500 scientific studies have validated the benefits of the practice which has been taught around the world to millions of people during the past 50 years.

Here's what Dr. Steele Belok, Clinical Instructor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, has to say about TM: "In my medical practice, I have found that people of all religions enjoy the Transcendental Meditation technique. Indeed, patients tell me that TM practice deepens their spiritual understanding because it refreshes their mind and awakens subtler values of awareness."

You can find out more about Transcendental Meditation by visiting http://www.doctorsonTM.org or http://www.tmbusiness.org

Don't Tithe If You Can't Afford to - Poor Christians Beware of Motivated Church Leaders

Make A Live Out Of Your Life

Hinduism, Buddhism and the Devil

No sect of Hinduism personifies the powers of evil in one figure corresponding to Satan, or the Ahriman of Persia. In proportion as a nation thinks pantheistically it is disinclined to regard the world as being mainly a contest between good and evil. It is true there are innumerable demons and innumerable good spirits who withstand them. But just as there is no finality in the exploits of Rma and Krishna, so Rvana and other monsters do not attain to the dignity of the Devil. In a sense the destructive forces are evil, but when they destroy the world at the end of a Kalpa the result is not the triumph of evil. It is simply winter after autumn, leading to spring and another summer.

Buddhism having a stronger ethical bias than Hinduism was more conscious of the existence of a Tempter, or a power that makes men sin. This power is personified, but somewhat indistinctly, as Mra, originally and etymologically a god of death. He is commonly called Mra the Evil One, which corresponds to the Mrityuh ppm of the Vedas, but as a personality he seems to have developed entirely within the Buddhist circle and to be unknown to general Indian mythology.

In the thought of the Pitakas the connection between death and desire is clear. The great evils and great characteristics of the world are that everything in it decays and dies and that existence depends on desire. Therefore the ruler of the world may be represented as the god of desire and death. Buddha and his saints struggle with evil and overcome it by overcoming desire and this triumphant struggle is regarded as a duel with Mra, who is driven off and defeated.

Even in his most mythological aspects, Mra is not a deity of Hell. He presides over desire and temptation, not over judgment and punishment. This is the function of Yama, the god of the dead, and one of the Brahmanic deities who have migrated to the Far East. He has been adopted by Buddhism, though no explanation is given of his status. But he is introduced as a vague but effective figure-and yet hardly more than a metaphor-whenever it is desired to personify the inflexible powers that summon the living to the other world and there make them undergo, with awful accuracy, the retribution due for their deeds.

In a remarkable passage called Death's Messengers, it is related that when a sinner dies he is led before King Yama who asks him if he never saw the three messengers of the gods sent as warnings to mortals, namely an old man, a sick man and a corpse. The sinner under judgment admits that he saw but did not reflect and Yama sentences him to punishment, until suffering commensurate to his sins has been inflicted.

Find Out Why You Believe in Your Religion

Whenever I ask someone involved in a religious organization, the question, do you really believe in your religion? Most of these people will often answer would be yes and start their religious conversion. Some of these people can become very intrusive if I don't stop them soon, very few of these people listen with an open mind.

I have talked to quite a few men and women about their beliefs over the years and still find it hard to believe that most of them live a life of faith with very little understanding or education about their religion. Now some strong believers might take offense to that statement, while others will listen to what I said and start doing a little more research on their religion.

Most of these religions throughout the world make perfectly good sense to their followers and I understand the reasoning behind some of them, it's all they know, everyone around them believes in the same religion and they get some sort of happiness and joy from it.

It's not hard to imagine a young child, walking around with strong religious beliefs if their parents are strong believers in it also. These children grow up and eventually train their children to follow the same path of their parents. Our children should be able to choose, what they will believe in, by the time they are adults.

This is a natural process of life, your parents learned from their parents and whenever someone asked them a question that they really couldn't answer or were uncomfortable answering, they can always reply with, I'm living a life based on faith or you just have to believe. You have to believe that someone is looking out for you and taking care of you. Most of these people think that something else is responsible for the events that take place in their life.

Is it possible for people that live a life of faith to educate themselves about their religion, to find the origin and maybe the destination of their religions. Could these people actually assume responsibility for their choices, whether they're good or bad. It's often hard to listen to somebody tell me that some evil entity made them do something bad. These people are easily convinced by others who agree with them and support them with their statements and beliefs. This seems to be where the biggest problem lies.

Once the people around us support our beliefs, they soon become realities in our lives. These realities will be transferred to others around us and give them support eventually about their beliefs. It's like a vicious circle that never ends. One believe supports another belief, until it's a fact.

Universe Long Before the Big Bang and After - Neosecularism Vs Atheism and Religion

Materials presented below are neither illusions nor assumptions. All are matters of absolute facts to me. But since there is no scientific tools presently available to prove any of the materials presented here, and the transcendence by which I have ascertained the truth about them cannot be explained in this short essay, I have to guide the reader to the references at the end of this essay to find the answer. Therefore, instead of facts I am going to present those as assumptions leaving to the readers knowledge of astronomy, astrophysics, other related fields and properly informed individuals, and their intelligence, reasoning power, logic and rationalization in reaching a reasonable conclusion. I propose that the reader assume each segment of these facts as a hypothesis, as we scientists do in verifying of any issue in our research and study process, then attempt through logic and reasoning to verify its different components and ultimately reach a reasonable conclusion.

Let us assume that there are two universes instead of one. Actually, there are three but we leave the third one out since it is very complex and difficult to understand with the present level of knowledge held by the scientific community. However, we will give a brief explanation of the third universe presenting its form and nature to the readers without bringing it into discussion. The first universe is matterless the second material and the third non-material. The first, being matterless, is not subject to time or space since only the matter can have such dimensions. Therefore, the Matterless Universe, under the standards of measurement used and understood at the present, expands to infinity with no beginning or end. It consists of what we may call "Pure Energy" or super-energy. It is a highly condensed mass of pure energy. The term "mass" used here is not the same as the material mass known to us. There is neither a way nor a proper term for this mass in our present scientific vocabulary. Since energy is the source of life for the body of the universe all the way down to plants, animals, humans and the smallest particles, comprehensively this Pure Energy must be the highest state of being, thus, dynamically alive, with supreme intelligence and enormous creative power. Therefore, as a supreme being it seems the only source capable of creation of the material universe as presented below. It is then proper to be called the Creator. Being matterless, it has no gender, thus, it is neither "He" nor "She" but "It". No light is associated with this Universe since any light is associated with matter and space.

Because the Creator is matterless, It extends to infinity. It is ever present everywhere transcending all matter including human beings. It has extensive sensitivity to the environment at any chosen point. As a matterless being It has no need to see but to sense. Therefore, It exists conveniently in absolute darkness. Our scientific community has already discovered a trace of the Creator. It has named it Dark Energy with a condensed mass and supreme power. All efforts are being made, within the material concept of science, to find more about it. This is nothing else but the Creator. As soon as we move away from our planet, we find ourselves in the same absolute darkness yet at the presence of the Creator. If we consider all these as facts, we may come to the conclusion that the Creator is not a holy dogmatic being as assumed by different religions but totally a secular being with no association with any particular religion. It is like a super scientist, inventor and creator and as such anxious for ultra-scientific designs and experimentations of which the creation of the Material Universe may have been one, and more likely not the only one. The essence of these experimentations may not be all for the same purpose namely to create a material universe.

The second universe is the Material Universe, which, at least so far as we have discovered, is subject to time and space as any matter, and as such it has a beginning, a process of life and development, and an ending. How the material universe started? This is a question not yet fully answered. If we consider that the Creator's experimentation intended to create a material universe, it certainly did not start with the Big Bang but long time before that. We should simply ask ourselves what was that caused the Big Bang. If we think of the Creator's intention for super-scientific experimentation in creating a material universe, we can easily come to a conclusion that it necessarily required a material base which had to come from the Creator's own essence, Pure Energy. There is no other source imaginable. Furthermore, we know that in our material world, the energy, in a variety of ways, is the source of life and base of existence of all matters from the Material Universe itself to planets and all living things in them. Based on all these facts the Creator, or the Matterless Universe, consisting of Pure Energy, would appear the only source of such immense energy required for the creation of the Material Universe and its continuing life, evolution and transformation.

Consequently, it is not unreasonable to assume that the Creator decided to carry out this experimentation and designated an initial point and a space there with specific dimensions fitting the objectives of its experimentation, and capable of absorbing and accumulating of needed energy from the Pure Energy consisting of Its essence. In a matter of maybe a billion or more years, the accumulation of energy in this designated space became crystallized in the form of a condensed huge transparent but solid object we may call it as Pure Matter, the ultimate size of which was determined by the Creator to suit the objectives of Its experimentation. For the first time "space" and "time" were created long before the Big Bang. The Material Universe, therefore, was initiated and its course of creation, evolution, maturity, decay and extinction was figured out by the Creator and now was the time to see to what extent the system would follow the envisioned process by the Creator's design of experimentation.

When the Pure Matter became saturated by the energy absorbed from the Pure Energy, it reached the point of explosion causing the Big Bang, unleashing the enormous energy saturated inside it. Because of the extreme heat, the resulting matters, which were not pure anymore, were mostly in the form of gas including what later on became solid matter or liquid. The explosion created immense light associated with heat, causing an outward push of the resulting matters with a lightening speed, creating a huge black hole in the Center with incredible power of electromagnetic gravity. Some huge parts from the Pure Matter thrown outward by the Big Bang were still in solid transparent form, though likely not so pure as they originally were, but still capable of absorbing more energy, becoming saturated and exploding later on far away from the Center. Therefore, we may properly assume that there was not just one Big Bang but a succession of big bangs maybe not as magnificent as the original one, and they are still continuing to occur in the outer dimensions of the Universe, though not as enormous as the previous ones, creating new galaxies, solar systems and corresponding planets. Therefore, it may be properly assumed that supernovas could be related to the extension of these bangs.

Immediately after the Big Bang, because of extreme heat caused by the explosion, all matters were in gas form. After quite an extended period of time, as temperatures receded, some matters liquefied and then took a solid form, some others took a liquid form yet some others remained in more condensed gas from. Ultimately, the solar systems and planets were crystallized. Evolution of life in each planet depended on the material components of the planet and the environment within which it was situated. Evolution of each planet proceeded to its maturity, aging, decaying and extinction. The nature of matters composing each planet determined the extent of its capability to absorb energy from the sun and other sources.

Considering that energy is the source of life, the nature of accumulation of this energy, within a proper environment created by the solar system's accidental surge of energy from its sun, allowed in some planets for the living organisms to be created. This surge of energy which may happen very rarely during the whole life span of a sun, created an orbit like outward movement. In this outward movement this high energy orbit, known as the intelligence orbit, met certain planets enabling them to absorb extra and unique kind of energy. this higher level of adsorption reached a point known as the intelligence line materialized by the planet's encounter with the core of intelligence orbit expanding outward.

This level of intelligence was also affected, positively or negatively, depending on the nature of the material components of each planet and its environment. As a result of this high energy environment, a variety of intelligent creatures were created including human beings as the environment became favorable. This assumption is in contrast with the Darwinian theory of evolution of humans from other species. The level of intelligence of the coming class of intelligent creatures advanced by the increase in the level of the planet's intelligence level as the planet approached to the inner core of the intelligence orbit emanated from the sun and moving outward.

It is important to notice that the Creator did not create the universe , its components and living creatures in some planets including ours. They were created according to the specific conditions required for their creation as set up in the Creator's design of the experimentation and the level of available energy. For example, human beings were not created by the Creator and they were not created at one time in a specific area of the planet. Different parts of the planet being subject to different environment, some human beings were created tens of thousand years after the others, likely, more intelligent than the previous group because of rising intelligent level of the planet had placed them on a higher level of intelligence. So, the total process of the development of each planet, as that of the Material Universe, involved the creation and the evolution side by side at different levels of development and varying environments. Based on the conditions of the environment and natural climate, some species were created, some evolved into a new ones and some became extinct. The same process is still continuing.

Unavoidably, there arrives a point at which the consumption of energy by the planet reaches the level of its absorption. At this point, the evolution stops. Pursuant to this point the absorption of energy gradually decreases, either as a result of decrease in the emission of the energy from its original source or certain transformations in the components and composition of the planet or other reasons. As a consequence, the planet receives less energy than it needs for its survival and starts an accelerated process of devolution and degeneration. In planets with living creatures, this situation occurs when the planet is near moving out of the influence of the intelligence orbit. When the level of intelligence of the planet is reduced, by the intelligence orbit starting to move away from the planet, it causes decay on the level of intelligence of its intelligent creatures. When the planet is placed in the outer limits of the intelligence orbit, the level of intelligence on the planet reaches the zero point and no intelligent creature survives and the planet with an increasing acceleration loses its gravity power to the point that its components cannot be held together by its weakened gravity and the planet meets its destruction. The majority of planets, in their process of development do not encounter the intelligence orbit or even the level of environment capable of producing any kind of creatures. The span of life of these planets is comparatively quite short.

Apparently, the Material Universe, the whole subject of the experimentation, is set to follow the same course of evolution, decay, devolution and extinction. After its creation and the Big Bang, it started to expand outward with lightening speed by incredible force created through the explosion. From this point of explosion on, the motion of the Material Universe has been under the influence of two immense opposing forces: An outward pushing force created by the Big Bang, and an inward pulling force, located at the point of explosion created by the enormous gravity and electromagnetic forces caused by the Big Bang. The resultant effect has been the slowing down of the expansion speed. This is in contrast with the present concept of accelerating expansion of the universe. In addition, the later big bangs have also affected the resultant effects of expansion course since their expansions were also spherical, part of which expanded toward the Center, opposite to the expansion direction of the Universe. These repeated post-Big-Bang explosions have actually caused a chaotic movements inside the sphere of the Material Universe. Based on these assumptions, at one point in time the Universe would reach the zero point of expansion. Then, under the pulling power of the gravity from the Center, it would start to contract in an accelerating fashion which will cause increasing heat to the extend that as it moves closer to the Center and becoming condensed by bringing together billions of the existing planets with an ever-increasing speed, the level of temperature will cause all matters to be transformed into gases, ultimately being totally extinguished, by transforming into matterless state, leaving nothing behind. Every material thing will disappear by being transformed into matterless form again. It will appear that nothing had ever happened. Considering the infinite dimension of the Matterless Universe, this whole process would look like a mosquito bite in a human body which it swells outward, then swelling stops and then the skin recedes to its normal condition without any trace of the bite left behind.

In conclusion, it is quite important to note that the history of the humanity shows that there have been individuals going back to melania who were aware of the secular, pure and matterless nature of the Creator that even today after thousands of years, our scientific community has difficulty to understand let alone to accept it. There are many evidences for such claim. Zoroaster or Zarathustra, the great Persian prophet, around 1500 B.C. when he introduced his dynamic message of "unique" monotheism, the concept of only one Creator, he called It "Ahura Mazda" meaning a "Super-Intellect Being," as "the creator, sustainor and promoter of the Universe."(1) The old Persian word for the Creator is "Khod'a", meaning created by itself. This meant that there was nothing to look for beyond Pure Energy. With the present paste of scientific progress, discovery of the matterless world or the Creator as exposed here and understanding of it, is a century or more in the future. It is possible only through transcendence achievable by years of meditation aimed at expanding the mind into the non-material and ultimately to matterless world. It is definitely the science of the future though such thou hgts are considered to be nonsense by the scientific community at the present time. However, I know it is a fact since I have been there, and all this knowledge comes from there.[2]

The main purpose of this exposition has been to invite knowledgeable readers particularly those qualified in related fields such as astronomy, astrophysics, and metaphysics, to leave aside their preconceptions and outright rejections and pay serious attention to the facts and reach conclusions based on logic, reasoning and rationalization. The hope is that if this way of thinking is followed, the scientific community may ascertain the nature of the Matterless Universe and the facts of creation and evolution of the Material Universe, not in a century or more as is estimated but much sooner. An enormous and incredible wealth of knowledge is waiting to be discovered. When discovered, it will cause universal peace, prosperity and tranquility. It will bring about true democracy, eliminate excess materialism by accepting the application of the principle of equality of opportunity in every aspect of daily life. [3]

It was mentioned above that there was a third universe called Non-material Universe and we will give a brief description of it. Non-material Universe is a stage between the material and matterless universes. It is transparent, therefore, invisible to our eyes. It engulfs the material universe. For every material planet there is a non-material one several times larger in size. It is subject to time and space by a different standards for which we have no means of measurement. It may shed an idea of time if we consider that a year in that planet may equal to thousands of year in our planet. The same applies to non-material beings living in them. The span of life may extend to thousands of years. The climate and environment follows the same standards with enormous deviations. Temperature may vary from thousand degrees below zero to thousands above it. It is a super advanced civilization where, though there are some bad beings but they cannot do anything bad thus are automatically forced to correct themselves. The life is extremely painful to those who are caught in harsh environments of the planet, and incredibly enjoyable for those located in favorable environments.

Finally, in closing, it may be noteworthy to say a little about the concept of neosecularism, which materializes if one accepts the facts of the two universes as discussed above. Secularism is defined as indifference to or rejection or exclusion of religion and religious considerations. Neosecularism is defined as the exclusion of religion or religious considerations. It is fundamentally different from secularism since it rejects the religious dogmatic concepts of God, spirituality and creation of the Material Universe, while in a completely secular, rational and scientific manner accepts the existence of a totally secular Creator and a different course for the process of creation and evolution.

From all the materials presented here, it can be easily concluded that: first, nothing is holy about the Creator as assumed by several religions. It is a totally secular super being with a supreme life, intelligence and creative power. Thus the Creator has no relation to, or interest in nor belong to any religion. Its only interest in human beings, if any, concerns their behavior and development as a component of Its total experimentation in creating the Material Universe.

Second, since the Creator consists of Pure Energy, Which is the highest and purest level of being, Its nature could be nothing but inherently good, pure and positive. More likely, as a super-scientist, It is interested to see to what extent this goodness and purity can be restored when the Pure Matter was degraded by the Big Bang to much lower grade matters including human beings.

Third, among all Its creations at this Material Universe, the Creator has been able to sustain contact with human beings through their high level of intelligence, the human mind or spirit being the locus and medium of such contact. It seems reasonable to assume that the main purpose of this experimentation may have been to examine to see to what extent and level human beings can develop themselves approaching the Creator's pure essence at the matterless level.

Fourth, To guide humans in the process of self-development towards this purity, the Creator often receives help from those who consciously have developed and purified themselves and thus have been able to get direct contact with the Creator through transcendence. These are not actually assigned by the Creator as prophets or agents. The fact is that when a human being becomes conscious of the meaning of life and creation by dedicating himself to physical and spiritual advancement, after years of hard and disciplined labor he finally reaches the level of being able to contact the Creator. At this high level of purity, he finds himself obligated to assume the burdensome and often dangerous task of guiding the others. The number of such individuals is not restricted to Jesus, Moses, Mohammad and others who have been mentioned, but it is in thousands at any given time who remain unknown. Many operate silently carrying out their self-assumed duties. They receive directions from the Creator if they are in such need and ask for. As more knowledge about the Universe and the Creator is discovered, a rational, non-coercive and non-dogmatic way of thought, labeled here as neosecularism, will come to prevail. Religions and other dogmatic thoughts and beliefs will loose their influence in daily lives of the people. Important reasons for conflict and confrontation will disappear and opportunities for peaceful coexistence will materialize.

Bible Scriptures Mirror Prosperity On You

James 1:22-25 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: 24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. 25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. KJV

This Bible scripture shows us that bible scriptures are mirrors we need to be looking into every day and then we will see ourselves in this new life in Christ Jesus. We look differently in these Bible scripture mirrors then sometimes circumstances in our lives; because they reflect a whole new realm, the Kingdom of God, we are living in or should live in and out of as Christians.

Bible scripture prosperity manifests in our lives as we continue to look, not forgetting what Bible scriptures show us. That continual observing of the reflection of Bible scriptures will bring the revelation to our minds and then comes manifestation for all others to see. That is the power of the Word of God. First we have revelation and then we have manifestation. That is why the importance of meditation of Bible scriptures day and night as Joshua 1:8 tells us.

Joshua 1:8 This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success. AMP

So lets get started on looking into some Bible scriptures that will show us in the prosperity of God.

3 John 2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. KJV

Did you notice Father God wished above all things that we prosper first of all? This is speaking of financial prosperity. Father still wishes that you prospered above all things today.

2 Corinthians 8:9 For you are becoming progressively acquainted with and recognizing more strongly and clearly the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ (His kindness, His gracious generosity, His undeserved favor and spiritual blessing), [in] that though He was [so very] rich, yet for your sakes He became [so very] poor, in order that by His poverty you might become enriched (abundantly supplied). AMP

This scripture is all about financial matters and not spiritual matters. Looking into this Bible scripture, we see Jesus became so very poor coming to this earth from a lavish Heaven so that we could financially become enriched abundantly supplied. So keep looking into this mirror and see yourself becoming enriched abundantly supplied then at the time when Jesus left Heaven for your prosperity.

2 Corinthians 9:6-11 [Remember] this: he who sows sparingly and grudgingly will also reap sparingly and grudgingly, and he who sows generously [that blessings may come to someone] will also reap generously and with blessings. 7 Let each one [give] as he has made up his own mind and purposed in his heart, not reluctantly or sorrowfully or under compulsion, for God loves (He takes pleasure in, prizes above other things, and is unwilling to abandon or to do without) a cheerful (joyous, "prompt to do it") giver [whose heart is in his giving]. 8 And God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation].
9 As it is written, He [the benevolent person] scatters abroad; He gives to the poor; His deeds of justice and goodness and kindness and benevolence will go on and endure forever! 10 And [God] Who provides seed for the sower and bread for eating will also provide and multiply your [resources for] sowing and increase the fruits of your righteousness [which manifests itself in active goodness, kindness, and charity]. 11 Thus you will be enriched in all things and in every way, so that you can be generous, and [your generosity as it is] administered by us will bring forth thanksgiving to God. AMP

This is how the Kingdom of God operates, seed time and harvest. This allows the abundance of Gods grace to cause us to experience every favor and earthly blessing, possess enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance to continue to be a giver. Do you see yourself in the mirror of this Bible scripture? If not, then keep looking.

Galatians 3:13-14,29 Christ purchased our freedom [redeeming us] from the curse (doom) of the Law [and its condemnation] by [Himself] becoming a curse for us, for it is written [in the Scriptures], Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree (is crucified); 14 To the end that through [their receiving] Christ Jesus, the blessing [promised] to Abraham might come upon the Gentiles, so that we through faith might [all] receive [the realization of] the promise of the [Holy] Spirit. 29 And if you belong to Christ [are in Him Who is Abraham's Seed], then you are Abraham's offspring and [spiritual] heirs according to promise. AMP

July 4th of every year the United States of America celebrates its independence from her mother nation. As Christians, we need to continue to look into this mirror of Galatians 3:13 and others that reflect back to us our independence from the law and from the curse of the law because of Jesus fulfilling that law of Moses and taking the curse of the law for our independence.

It might be good for you to go back and look at Deuteronomy 28 where the blessing that came by keeping the law and the curse coming from not doing the law are listed. Dont pay any attention to the curse other than to give thanks to Jesus for fulfilling all of this Law of Moses so that you could experience through Him the blessings. Then your time, meditating on the blessing and see a reflection of yourself walking and living in the blessing. It will come upon you and over take you is the promise. I like to be overtaken by the blessing, dont you?

Now that we are in Christ Jesus, Bible scriptures will reflect back to us being in the blessing of Abraham. We have the spiritual blessing of Jesus Christ and we have the financial blessing of Abraham.

This last Bible scripture mirrors us in prosperity provided for by Heavens blessings.

Ephesians 1:3 May blessing (praise, laudation, and eulogy) be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) Who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual (given by the Holy Spirit) blessing in the heavenly realm! AMP

We must not be waiting on our financial prosperity any more. Every spiritual blessing contains your material blessing. All material things came out of spiritual substance. The spiritual blessing of your new birth was waiting on you just to receive it. Your financial blessing is waiting on you to see yourself in it and take it.

Lets make this confession looking into the mirror of these Bible scriptures of prosperity:

I see from these Bible scriptures, I am blessed because I have the blessing of God and the blessing of Abraham, my Father of faith. I have received the spiritual blessings by Jesus and I have received financial blessings by Abraham. I will continue to look into these Bible scriptures, my mirror, reflecting back to me who I am in Christ Jesus, and I will not forget what I see. As a result of this I will be blessed in all I do.

My Father God wishes above every thing else in the earth that I prosper in my finances. My mind is prospering as I continue to look into the mirror of Bible prosperity scriptures. I therefore identify with Jesus sacrifice, leaving lavish Heaven and becoming so very poor so that I now am abundantly supplied in my finances. This is just part of my salvation that Jesus provided for me.

I will continue to remember the operation of the Kingdom of Gods financial increase comes by my generous giving. I do not give out of law but my giving will be as a result of a hearts desire, being prompt, joyous and cheerful. Then I am expecting the results of the Kingdom of Gods guarantee of my Fathers grace and favor bringing earthly blessings to me in abundance. Then in all circumstances, I am assured I will be prospering so that I do not have to get any kind of aid or support, no kind of debt; but I am giving continually out of my abundance to every good work and needs of others. Then Father God provides more seed for me to sow and I get greater harvests. In the process Father provides my every need, and I continue to be generous and this brings thanksgiving to my Father.

Christ Jesus has purchased my freedom from the curse of the Law of Moses by fulfilling the law for me. In this liberty I am experiencing the blessing of Abraham. I also receive the manifestation of financial blessings that come from every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realm through Christ Jesus.

These Bible scriptures bring liberty to me in my finances so I continue looking into them, seeing and experiencing the reality of them in my life.

Using a Home Automation System to Reduce Energy Consumption

It may seem strange to use a home automation system to save energy - after all won't the control system itself use energy? Surely a minimalist approach to electrical hardware is the best way to save energy?

A well designed home automation system can provide huge benefits and savings in energy consumption:

Lighting Control

Lighting control systems can save substantial amounts of energy. The dimming mechanism can save up to 70% of the energy of a non-dimmed lamp which when coupled with activity detection and daylight sensing can save huge amounts of energy. Put simply the home automation system will determine if the room is occupied and if it is whether the existing light level is sufficient. Big businesses have been using this technology for years, and making huge savings, and now the likes of Crestron have started releasing lighting keypads with light sensors built in for the domestic market.

Heating Control

There are many ways a home automation system can save on the costs of heating your home - individual thermostats in each room ensure the house is never over heated and allow temperatures to be reduced when the room is not occupied. These temperature reductions can even be tied in to your alarm system so setting the alarm when you leave the property will reduce the required temperatures, even a few degrees savings can reap substantial savings. Individual controls of different rooms can allow different temperatures throughout the home, similar to the radiator temperature dials we are all used to but much more reliable. A home automation system also comes in to its own with renewable energy solutions - biomass boilers and stoves can be controlled to ensure maximum efficiency. As an aside it is also worth considering convenience - imagine being able to dial up your ski chalet on the last run of the day to switch the stove on - ensuring a welcoming warm lounge when you get home!

Intelligent Power Switching

Switching things off when not required is an easy way to save energy. Modern equipment has been designed to use a lot less power when in standby which is why our control systems are programmed to switch devices off when they are not required. With certain devices - which we know to be inefficient even in standby - we can automatically switch off all power to the devices. Our modern multi-room amplifiers are Class D models which means each output has it's own power supply and consequently only portions of the amplifier are switched on at any one time.

Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning

Although we have already covered Heating Control it is important to think of heating as part of the bigger picture. Modern buildings tend to contain a lot of glass which can cause temperature swings - too cold part of the time or too hot when the sun is streaming through the windows. The same Crestron heating thermostats can let us know when the temperature is rising and, coupled with the lighting keypad light sensors, determine if the blinds should be closed. This pre-emptive measure can save huge amounts in air conditioning costs whilst protecting the fabric of the room. Security can also be increased by closing the curtains or blinds when darkness falls. Control of air conditioning can not only make the system easier to use but ensure the system is only operating when the room is occupied and the conditions demand it.

Vertical Wind Generators

With the rising price of fuel oil, and the rising costs of energy in general, there is increasing demand for home generated power, be it from solar-electric, solar thermal heating, or wind generated power. Of those three options, wind generated power is by far and away the most mature option, with the best odds for getting a reasonable payback in a typical home owning time frame.

With wind power generators, there are two general types to consider: Horizontal blade generators, and vertical wind generators. Horizontal generators are the type most people associate with a windmill or wind generator - they have blades that rotate perpendicular to the ground, with the axis of rotation being horizontal. They have significant advantages in efficiency, but work best when put on a tower, where they can catch the upper contrail winds, and they're more mechanically complex. On top of this, they're also a hazard to birds, and can be quite noisy.

For rural applications, horizontal generators reign supreme. When attached to someone's home for net metered power generation, they run afoul of local zoning ordinances and home owners associations, because, bluntly, there's no real way to make a 35 tall wind turbine look like it's part of a Victorian deco home plot. Couple this with dead birds, loud noises, and people afraid they'll blow over in a storm, and there's a lot of barriers to installation.

The best choice for a homeowner is a vertical wind generator, which rotates on a vertical axis. There are drawbacks - they're about half as efficient as the more traditional wind turbine, and they may need a small "boost" from an electric motor to get their initial rotation going; their minimum threshold for usable wind is a bit lower.

On the other hand, vertical wind generators have the advantage of being suitable for a ground level installation. They can be put out in the middle of the back yard, or on top of the roof of your garage. They're much quieter in general than horizontal generators, and because they operate at a lower altitude, they're less likely to kill birds. They also don't need a yaw element (the "tail" of a conventional turbine blade) to steer them into the wind direction, as they can generate energy from any wind direction the breeze is blowing in from.

Another benefit of vertical wind generators is the range of vendors supplying them; horizontal generators are good for industrial applications, but they're often $12,000 or more to install. Vertical wind generators are often under $5,000. With most electrical prices set the way they are, a vertical wind generator can pay for itself in home use in around 20 to 25 years. (A horizontal generator will be more efficient, and generate power at a lower baseline wind speed, making its higher up front cost make more sense).

Vertical wind generators are also (generally) more aesthetic. They're less likely to be noticed as being an odd addition than a 36' tall tower would be. Some of the more aerodynamic ones tend to look like short rotating sculptures, and there are even bladeless or rotorless turbines.

The most common type of home deployed vertical wind generator is the Savonius type, which uses airfoils and wide variable pitch blades to generate power. Built more or less like large anemometers, they run into problems with generated drag; more efficient ones use variable formations on the blade to minimize drag when they're being swing through the incoming breeze.

The other type of wind generator is the so-called 'egg beater' windmill - they can scale up to the full industrial size installation, though they're also suitable for small home installations. They're much more efficient, but also noisier, and a bit more effort is required to maintain them.

Depending on where you're setting your vertical wind generator up, your local utility company may offer credits for doing so, and nearly 90% of the utility companies in the US offer some form of net metering, where excess electricity you produce from your vertical wind generator is sold back to them and credited against your bill. Look seriously into the options your utility company provides before investing in a vertical wind generator, and consider it an investment in cheaper power down the road.

21 Ways to Reduce Your Carbon Footprint and Cut Heating Bills

Most emissions from homes are from the fossil fuels burned to generate electricity and heat. If you use energy more efficiently at home, you can reduce your emissions and lower your energy bills by more than 30%. Additionally since agriculture is responsible for about a fifth of the world's greenhouse gas emissions, you can reduce your emissions simply by watching what you eat.

Here's how:
1. Replace a regular incandescent light bulb with a compact fluorescent light bulb (CFL)
CFLs use 60% less energy than a regular bulb. This simple switch will save about 300 pounds of carbon dioxide a year. If every family in the U.S. made the switch, we'd reduce carbon dioxide by more than 90 billion pounds! You can purchase CFLs online or any home improvement store.

2. Move your thermostat down 2 in winter and up 2 in summer
Almost half of the energy we use in our homes goes to heating and cooling. You could save about 2,000 pounds of carbon dioxide a year with this simple adjustment.

3. Clean or replace filters on your furnace and air conditioner
Cleaning a dirty air filter can save 350 pounds of carbon dioxide a year.

4. Install a programmable thermostat
Programmable thermostats will automatically lower the heat or air conditioning at night and raise them again in the morning. They can save you $100 a year on your energy bill.

5. Choose energy efficient appliances when making new purchases
Look for the Energy Star label on new appliances to choose the most efficient models. If each household in the U.S. replaced its existing appliances with the most efficient models available, we'd eliminate 175 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions every year!

6. Wrap your water heater in an insulation blanket
You'll save 1,000 pounds of carbon dioxide a year with this simple action. You can save another 550 pounds per year by setting the thermostat no higher than 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

7. Use less hot water
It takes a lot of energy to heat water. You can use less hot water by installing a low flow showerhead (350 pounds of carbon dioxide saved per year) and washing your clothes in cold or warm water (500 pounds saved per year) instead of hot.

8. Use a clothesline instead of a dryer whenever possible
You can save 700 pounds of carbon dioxide when you air dry your clothes for 6 months out of the year.

9. Turn off electronic devices you're not using
Simply turning off your television, DVD player, stereo, and computer when you're not using them will save you thousands of pounds of carbon dioxide a year.

10. Unplug electronics from the wall when you're not using them
Even when turned off, things like hairdryers, cell phone chargers and televisions use energy. In fact, the energy used to keep display clocks lit and memory chips working accounts for 5 percent of total domestic energy consumption and spews 18 million tons of carbon into the atmosphere every year!

11. Only run your dishwasher when there's a full load and use the energy-saving setting
You can save 100 pounds of carbon dioxide per year.

12. Insulate and weatherize your home
Properly insulating your walls and ceilings can save 25% of your home heating bill and 2,000 pounds of carbon dioxide a year. Caulking and weather-stripping can save another 1,700 pounds per year. The Consumer Federation of America has more information on how to better insulate your home.

13. Be sure you're recycling at home
You can save 2,400 pounds of carbon dioxide a year by recycling half of the waste your household generates. Earth 911 can help you find recycling resources in your area.

14. Buy recycled paper products
It takes less 70 to 90% less energy to make recycled paper and it prevents the loss of forests worldwide.

15. Get a home energy audit
Many utilities offer free home energy audits to find where your home is poorly insulated or energy inefficient. You can save up to 30% off your energy bill and 1,000 pounds of carbon dioxide a year. Energy Star can help you find an energy specialist.

16. Switch to green power
You can purchase renewable energy from your local energy provider. Find out what renewable energy programs your local energy provider offers by clicking here. Or install renewable energy products, like wind generation and solar water heating, in your own home.

17. Buy locally grown and produced foods
The average meal in the United States travels 1,200 miles from the farm to your plate. Buying locally will save fuel and keep money in your community.

18. Buy fresh foods instead of frozen
Frozen food uses 10 times more energy to produce.

19. Seek out and support local farmers markets
They reduce the amount of energy required to grow and transport the food to you by one fifth. You can find a farmer's market in your area at the USDA website.

20. Buy organic foods as much as possible
Organic soils capture and store carbon dioxide at much higher levels than soils from conventional farms. If we grew all of our corn and soybeans organically, we'd remove 580 billion pounds of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere!

21 Avoid heavily packaged products
You can save 1,200 pounds of carbon dioxide if you cut down your garbage by 10%.

Alter Your Home - Energy Consumption and Energy-Efficiency

An environmentally-sound home is one that makes less of an impact on the environment. This example of home can include adding things like energy-efficient appliances or low-e windows to make your home more efficient or maybe even adding more substantial items like solar power or a water recycling system. If you are making these modifications now, the neat thing is that many of the products cost less now than in the past. If your home is in the process of being built, you can elect to have the home constructed to take maximum advantage of the natural illumination of the home. Making a home more efficient or purchasing an eco-friendly home will not only save you costs on things like utility bills, but is also the environmentally responsible decision to make.

Solar derived energy is a relatively new idea. Nonetheless, as a contemporary homeowner you can take advantage of the technology that is presented and get the energy that you need for your home. The way that solar energy is employed is that solar panels are situated in a place where they can get plenty of sunlight. These large panels are constructed of glass and have tubes with water coursing through them. As the sun heats the water in the tubes, it is transformed into energy that you can use for your home. An added benefit is that the hot water can then be used instead of a hot water heater. Most homeowners place the panels up on the portion of the roof that gets the greatest amount of sunlight. That means that shade from plant life needs to be minimized anywhere the panels are installed. Each system is different, but it is possible to derived energy an entire home using solar panels.

Water is a limited resource, so everyone needs to do their part to use less water. One method of making your water usage more eco-friendly is to have reservoir tanks where you can collect water and then send it through a filtration system where it can then furnish the water needs of your home. This water recycling method is a great method to take care of your yard's water needs.

Recycling water can conserve about eighty percent of the overall water used in many homes. Another easy way to cut back on the quantity of water that you are using is to put in a low-flow showerhead. A low-flow showerhead is not complicated to install and will save hundreds of gallons of water yearly. Also, if you have antiquated toilets, upgrading to a newer toilet can also cut back on your water usage for the future. When you start to think about the many ways that you can save water, you can perhaps come up with even more.

Eco-friendly homes are the trend of the future. Discovering ways to cut down on each household's use of electricity and water is important for all of us. You can make modifications to make your home more earth-friendly that will really make an impact. Recycling, utilizing solar power and monitoring your water use are all great ways to start making your home a green home.
